Synastry: Earth and Man

The video reflects the power and vastness of the forest in front of the body, and how the body seeks dialogue with this immensity.

It is an attempt to connect with the energies present and reflect them into movement and drawing. It is a body given to the powers of nature.

The video was made in winter 2021 in Akäslompolo, Lapland, Finland within the framework of the ISEAS creative residency for the collective exhibition held in August 2021 at the museum in Rovaniemi, Finland.

Video art maked in collaboration with the Iranian Filmaker Abid Adbi currently resident in Finland.
The sound comes from electrical resistance measured by passing a small current through the mushrooms. The changes in resistance are then converted into control signals which determine the rhythm, pitch, timbre and effects parameters of the modular synthesizer. Sound is created by musician MycoLyco.  Lapland forest during ISEAS 2020 in Äkäslompolo. Video  exhibited in Kellokas Gallerie, Äkäslompolo, Finland.

Traces of Memories

Work-in-progress exercise that collects short videos in which hands dance a memory. Collaborators are invited to select an object that evokes a significant memory or recollection, and express it exclusively through their hands, recording this gesture with their mobile phones.

This project is part of my research for the Master’s in Dance: Participation, Communities, Activism at the London Contemporary Dance School – THE PLACE, and is closely linked to my investigation TRANS-MEMORIA, which explores the intersection between Chilean exile in Berlin and former residents of the ex-GDR.

The proposal draws inspiration from Astrid Erll’s theory of transcultural memory, engaging with the ways in which personal memories migrate, transform, and are negotiated between different cultures and generations, mediated through the body and its gestures.
